Twitter X Premium Benefits and features

Twitter X Premium: Everything you need to know

X is the new name of Twitter, which was acquired by Elon Musk in October 2022. The company changed its name to reflect its focus on the letter “X”, which Musk has said represents “the unknown” and “the potential”.

What is X Premium?

X Premium is an opt-in, paid subscription service that gives you a blue checkmark and early access to select features, such as Edit post, Longer posts, and NFT profile pictures. If you want to earn money through Twitter X, you have to subscribe for this paid service.

How much does X Premium cost?

X Premium costs $8/month or $84/year on web, or $11/month or $114.99/year on iOS or Android, depending on your location. You can cancel anytime, but no refunds are available. Check the prices in your country.

All of X Premium’s features will be accessible right away, with the exception of the blue checkmark. This verification badge will be added to eligible profiles following a review process, ensuring that subscribed accounts fulfill all the necessary eligibility criteria.

Features of X Premium

In addition to the blue checkmark, Premium features provide subscribers with the opportunity to elevate and tailor their experience. These robust controls are crafted to assist in personalizing Twitter, and they grant early access to the platform’s latest features ahead of their general release.

Here are some of the benefits and features that you can enjoy with Twitter X Premium:

Edit post:

This highly requested feature provides users with a 1-hour window to make a limited number of changes to published posts. Users can utilize this feature to make updates, tag others, or rearrange attached media. Edit post functionality currently applies exclusively to original posts and Quotes.

Half ads:

Users will experience approximately 50% fewer ads within the For You and Following timelines. As they scroll, they will encounter roughly twice as many organic or non-promoted posts interspersed between promoted posts or ads. The frequency of non-promoted posts between promoted ones may vary. This feature does not extend to promoted content elsewhere on X, including but not limited to profile ads, post reply ads, promoted events in Explore, promoted trends, and recommended accounts to follow. Premium subscribers gain access to this feature after their accounts undergo eligibility review and receive the blue checkmark.

Prioritized rankings in conversations and search:

Posts that users engage with will receive a slight ranking boost. Furthermore, their replies will be elevated in ranking, placing them closer to the top. Subscribers will be featured in the Verified tab within the notifications of other users. This tab highlights replies, mentions, and interactions from Premium subscribers.

Longer posts:

Users interested in exceeding the 280-character limit can do so with longer posts, which allow for up to 25,000 characters. Longer posts can also be created within Quotes or replies. Standard functionalities such as media sharing, poll creation, and hashtag use remain unaffected. While everyone can read longer posts, only Premium subscribers are able to create them.

Text formatting:

The ability to bold and italicize text in posts on x.com is now available.

Highlight posts:

Users can showcase their top posts by Highlighting them, causing these posts to appear in a dedicated tab on their profiles.

Bookmark Folders:

Bookmark Folders permit users to organize Bookmarked posts into folders for easier future access. Premium subscribers enjoy an unlimited number of bookmarks and Bookmark Folders, which remain private at all times.

Custom app icons:

Custom App icons allow users to modify the appearance of their X App icon on their phone. A variety of colorful options are available to choose from. Users can regularly check their settings for new featured looks, available for a limited time.

Custom navigation:

This feature empowers users to curate their navigation bar, providing quick access to preferred content and X destinations. Users can select a minimum of 2 and up to 6 items to maintain in their bottom navigation bar or revert to default settings if needed.

Top Articles:

Top Articles provides a shortcut to the most-shared articles within the user’s network. This feature automatically compiles the most-shared articles from followed individuals and those they follow, streamlining the discovery of desired content.

Reader:

Reader transforms lengthy threads into a more visually pleasing reading experience. Users can activate the Reader feature by tapping the reader icon at the top of the thread or employing it to adjust text size.

Undo post:

Undo post gives users the option to retract a post after sending it, but prior to its visibility to others on X. It serves as a chance to preview and revise a post before it becomes public. Once the Undo period concludes, the post becomes viewable to followers, and users can opt to leave it or delete it, as they would typically do on X.

Longer video upload:

Premium subscribers can share lengthier content with their followers. They can upload videos of up to approximately 3 hours in duration and up to 8GB file size (1080p) on x.com and X for iOS. Further details are available here.

Themes:

Premium Themes enable users to select from a range of colorful options for their app theme.

NFT Profile Pictures:

NFTs are introduced as one of several customization options for user profiles. Users can display owned NFTs in a hex-shaped profile picture on their accounts. After a temporary connection to a crypto wallet for NFT setup as a profile picture, the digital asset is showcased in a distinctive hexagon shape that signifies ownership.

SMS two-factor authentication:

Subscribers can enhance their account security by implementing two-factor authentication via SMS. Note that the availability of text message two-factor authentication for Premium may vary based on country and carrier.

Hide your checkmark:

Subscribers have the ability to hide the checkmark on their accounts. The checkmark will be concealed on both their profile and posts. While the checkmark might still appear in certain locations and certain features could reveal the active subscription, some functionalities may be restricted while the checkmark is hidden. This feature will continue to evolve to better suit user preferences.

Access to Media Studio:

Users gain the ability to manage images and videos uploaded to X through studio.x.com.

Access to X Pro:

X Pro provides users with the capability to view multiple configurable timelines concurrently, featuring real-time updates. Additional features include advanced search, the ability to add contributors and administrators to an account, and more.

What is the difference between the previous legacy blue checkmark and a checkmark obtained through an X Premium subscription?

Previously, Twitter used the blue checkmark to indicate active, notable, and authentic accounts of public interest that Twitter had independently verified based on certain requirements.

Now the blue checkmark means the account has an active subscription to X Premium. Accounts that receive the blue checkmark as part of a X Premium subscription will not undergo review to confirm that they meet the active, notable and authentic criteria that was used in the previous process.

Why hasn’t my blue checkmark appeared yet?

Most Premium features will be available immediately except the blue checkmark, which will appear on eligible profiles after a review to ensure subscribed accounts meet all eligibility criteria.
